A message from
Suni Harford, Regional Head of Markets for North America, Citi

Bob Annibale, Global Director, Citi Community Development

According to analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data conducted by Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the post-9/11 veteran joblessness rate is the lowest it has been since 2008.  However, with President Obama announcing in last week’s State of The Union address that 34,000 troops will return home by early 2014, the work of ensuring their successful transition to civilian life is ongoing.

The challenges facing our veterans persist, but Citi Salutes™, a firm-wide initiative, remains committed to focusing on career opportunities for veterans and their families and working through Citi Community Development with veterans’ service organization towards solutions that honor and support our returning troops. We’re pleased to share some recent highlights of how Citi Salutes is demonstrating leadership in the career development and recruitment of our nation’s veterans.

Heroes Get Hired:  How to Use Your Military Experience to Master the Interview
This week, Citi and NBC Publishing, in collaboration with IAVA and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN), released a  free eBook and guide for veteran job-seekers. This resource, by author Michelle Tillis Lederman includes job search and interview tips, real-life success stories, and instructional videos that feature IAVA member veterans interacting with human resources professionals in order to visualize and demonstrate key concepts.

We are honored that the stories of our colleagues who have found successful civilian careers are being featured on the cover of G.I. Jobs magazine as well in spots that will air today Wednesday, February 20 during NBC Nightly News and Friday, February 21 in the morning during the Today Show.
